A truck driver has been shot and his assistant wounded after gunmen attacked their vehicle on the Bibiani–Goaso road.
The incident involved 60-year-old Mohammed Yakubu, who was travelling with his mate in a blue-black Mitsubishi cargo truck from Akodie to Kumasi when they came under attack at Kwame Dwuma Sereso in the Atwima Mponua District.
Reports indicate that a group of armed men mounted a blockade on the stretch of road before firing at the oncoming truck.
Mr Yakubu was gunshot at the abdomen, while his conductor was also injured during the assault.
The two men managed to survive the encounter, which is being treated as a suspected highway robbery.
