The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the introduction of extended service hours across selected offices nationwide, in a move set to improve service delivery and expanding public access.
This current arrangement will take effect from Monday, May 4, 2026.
According to the Authority, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise operations and respond to increasing public demand for more flexible service hours.
In alignment, this forms part of Government’s 24-hour economy agenda, seeking to boost productivity, enhancing accessibility and to provide greater convenience for citizens.
In view of this, fifteen DVLA offices will begin operating within extended hours amid shifts until 10pm.
Locations selected to undertake this novel operations include Nahrhman (near Haatso), Weija, Tema, Bolgatanga, Wa, Tamale, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, Techiman, Kumasi, Winneba and Tarkwa.
These centres are key representatives of urban and regional hubs, ensuring that broader and geographical coverage are accessible.
Officials indicate that the extended hours are expected to ease congestion at offices, reduction of waiting times, and to provide better flexibility for consumers in order to minimize intermediary engagement.
However, payments made after 5:00 pm will be restricted to electronic payment methods.
“Transparency is our key focus in undertaking this operation,” the authority said.
The Authority has urged the public to take full advantage of the new system while adhering to the updated payment procedures.
The authority also encourage beneficiaries to exercise constrain as it continues to implement reforms aimed at effecting the awaiting 24-hour service framework across its offices.
