E/R: BECE candidate, 14, electrocuted after power cable falls during rainstorm at Nkawkaw

A 14-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination candidate has died after being electrocuted during a rainstorm at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.

The boy, identified as Richmond, was playing football at White House, a suburb of Nkawkaw, when a high-tension electricity cable reportedly fell onto the ground during heavy rain on Monday.

Eyewitnesses said the cable was still live when the teenager came into contact with it. He is believed to have fallen onto the wire while playing, and died instantly.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue as police and other authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
