E/R: Teacher found dead in pool of blood as Police arrest suspect at Maame Krobo

A 34-year-old teacher who had recently earned a promotion and was preparing to begin a new role has been found dead in his room at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

Police have launched a murder investigation and have arrested one suspect.

The deceased, identified as Eric Blankson, was allegedly murdered by unknown assailants. He was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside his room after relatives became concerned when they could not reach him.

Speaking to reporters, Isaac, the deceased’s younger brother, said Mr Blankson, who worked as a storekeeper at the Amankwa Fisheries Agriculture Technical Institute in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District, had travelled to Maame Krobo to spend the weekend with family.

He explained that the two had been together at his mobile money shop before Mr Blankson left to sleep while he remained at work. According to him, heavy rainfall caused a power outage in the community, delaying his return home.

When he later went to the house, he noticed that his brother’s sandals were outside but the door had been secured with a padlock, something he described as unusual. Suspecting something was wrong, he forced the door open and found Mr Blankson lying in a pool of blood.

The victim was rushed to the nearest health facility, where he was pronounced dead.

Police were informed of the incident and later conveyed the body to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Investigators have since arrested one suspect as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The deceased’s brother also alleged that the attackers made away with nearly GH¢30,000 from the room.

According to the family, Mr Blankson had recently been promoted and was expected to report to Peki Training College to assume his new appointment before his death.

He leaves behind a child and was reportedly preparing to marry later this year. His sudden death has left family members, friends and colleagues devastated as they await the outcome of the police investigation.
