The Electoral Commission (EC) has turned down a request by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a live broadcast of their meeting to discuss discrepancies in the Provisional Voters Register.
In a letter to the NDC dated Thursday, September 5, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Operations wholly rejected the proposal from the main opposition party.
The NDC had requested the live broadcast to ensure transparency in the process, but the EC said its team is ready to meet with the NDC’s team at the agreed time.
The EC, however, welcomed the NDC’s identification of discrepancies in the register, saying it will help ensure a credible register ahead of the 2024 general election.
“The Commission stands in readiness to hear from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the discrepancies it has identified with the Provisional Voters Register,” the letter said.
The EC reiterated its commitment to free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and credible elections.
