District Level Elections (DLEs) will take place in the Oti region’s Jasikan and Guan Districts, according to an announcement made by the Electoral Commission (EC).
This comes after the Constitutional Instrument (CI) was mature enough and passed to permit the EC to carry out the exercise in the relevant districts.
The deadline for all districts was November 16, 2023, however no nominations were received in the two districts for the elections scheduled for December 19, 2023.
But in a statement on Monday, the EC said “Nomination Forms may be obtained free of charge at the Jasikan and Guan District Offices of the Electoral Commission or on the Website of the Electoral Commission (www.ec.gov.gh).”
The proposals must be endorsed by 18 additional residents who are registered voters in the Electoral Area, and they must be witnessed by the signatures or marks of the proposer and seconder.
The candidates are instructed to turn in their completed forms between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Additionally, the District Officers of the Electoral Commission in the Jasikan and Guan Districts should be contacted with any questions regarding the elections.
