Electricity Company of Ghana has announced scheduled maintenance works in parts of the Accra East and Accra West Regions on Monday, May 18, 2026, as part of efforts to improve power supply reliability and strengthen the national grid.
According to notices released by the power distributor, the ECG Planned Power Outage will begin at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm in both regions.
Areas Affected in Accra East
The planned maintenance exercise in the Accra East Region will affect several communities, including:
- ECG Village
- Police City
- Ashiye Fulani
- Regimanuel Estate
- East Legon
- Parts of Bawaleshie
- Abotsiman
- Surrounding areas
The outage is expected to affect both residential and commercial activities within these communities, especially in busy areas such as East Legon and Regimanuel Estate.
Areas Affected in Accra West
In the Accra West Region, the maintenance exercise will affect:
- South McCarthy
- Mallam Junction
- Caitec Tower
- Agape
- C.P.
- Maame Nkran
- Nearby communities
The outage will impact homes, businesses, and commuters in and around the Mallam Junction enclave, one of Accra’s busiest transport and commercial centres.
ECG Apologises to Customers
The Electricity Company of Ghana apologised to customers who will be affected by the temporary interruption in power supply.
The company explained that the maintenance works are necessary to improve the stability and efficiency of the electricity network and ensure better service delivery in the long term.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outage.
