The Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, has expressed confidence that the committee’s recommendations will significantly support President John Dramani Mahama’s mission to “reset” Ghana’s economy amid prevailing global disruptions.
Dr. Yamson made the remarks during the formal submission of the committee’s final report to President Mahama at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, June 4.
The report, a culmination of months of stakeholder engagement and analysis, is expected to inform strategic decisions aimed at revitalizing the national economy.
“We are confident, Your Excellency, that you will find the recommendations useful as you lead the resetting Ghana agenda,” Dr. Yamson stated during the ceremony.
He emphasized that the recommendations take into account current global economic uncertainties, advocating for a model of resilience centered on self-reliance.
“We also believe you will find the recommendations appropriate in these times of extreme global disruptions and uncertainties, where resilience means self-reliance,” he added.
In a significant development, Dr. Yamson revealed that some of the committee’s proposals have already been integrated into the 2025 national budget, producing early encouraging outcomes.
“We are excited to know that even before we had the opportunity to present the final report to you, some of the key recommendations, which were fed into the 2025 budget, are already being implemented with spectacular results,” he said.
The National Economic Dialogue, convened to promote inclusive economic policy discourse, aims to chart a sustainable path for Ghana’s economic transformation in the face of both domestic and international headwinds.
