The Parliamentary Select Committee on Education has intensified its oversight of selected colleges of education following concerns raised in the Auditor-General’s report for the 2024 and 2025 financial years. This came to the fore when the Committee met with Management of College of Education.
Chairman for the committee, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe expressed concerns over procurement irregularities identified at some institutions and urged management to strictly adhere to procurement procedures and strengthen accountability in the use of public resources.
Hon. Fred Kyei also called on the colleges to establish comprehensive risk management policies and identify potential challenges to minimize impact on operations.
Committee members also urged the institutions to prioritise regular in-service training for staff to improve professional capacity and management standards.
The colleges appearing before the committee include St. John Bosco’s College of Education, Gambaga College of Education, Dambai College of Education, Al-Faruq College of Education, OLA College of Education, Peki College of Education, St. Francis College of Education, E.P. College of Education, Amedzofe, Akrokeri College of Education, Wiawso College of Education, Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Sunyani Technical University and Dr Hilla Limann Technical University.
