Education Ministry cautions against payment of money to secure placement

The Ministry of Education has cautioned prospective Senior High School students, parents or guardians, and the general public against any form of payment to unscrupulous individuals, offering to secure their preferred choice of school during the 2023 Computerised School Placement into Senior High or TVET Schools.

According to the Ministry,   School Selection and Placement process is purely on merit and no other consideration whatsoever.

“The Ministry further wishes to assure the public of a transparent, equitable, and merit-based placement process,” said the Ministry of Education in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng dated January 28, 2023.

This comes on the heels of investigative journalist Manasseh Awuni Azure-led Fourth Estate yet-to-aired documentary ‘Placement For Sale’ which uncovers rot in the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)

“If anyone tells you that he has an A school for you, he is lying. Your child will continue to stay home. Now, the slot left is for the [Ministry of Education] staff. And that’s the one I am selling,” one of them told.

The documentary airs soon…
