The Ministry of Education will on Wednesday, July 29, open a two-day National Conference on Stemming Indiscipline in Senior High Schools in Sunyani, bringing together key stakeholders to identify practical and lasting solutions to the growing challenge of indiscipline in Ghana’s second-cycle institutions.
Ahead of the conference, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, held a strategic meeting with members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to discuss the state of discipline in senior high schools and the shared responsibility of restoring discipline, character, and academic excellence.
The meeting also served as an opportunity for the minister to welcome participants and other distinguished guests who will take part in the national dialogue.
The conference is expected to provide a broad consultative platform for education administrators, teachers, students, parents, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, security agencies, and development partners to examine the root causes of indiscipline and propose practical interventions.
Recommendations from the conference will be used to develop a comprehensive policy paper to guide the Ministry of Education in establishing a coordinated national framework for addressing indiscipline in senior high schools while strengthening values-based education across the country.
