Police patrols in the Akuapem South Municipality are set to improve following the donation of a brand-new Nissan Z-9 pickup truck to the Aburi District Police Command by the Chairman of Eezzy Group of Companies, Mohammed Raii.
The vehicle is expected to strengthen both day and night patrols and improve the police command’s ability to respond to security issues across the municipality.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP Owusu-Bempah said the pickup would help officers reach difficult areas and increase patrol operations.
“The vehicle will help the police navigate the entire terrain and intensify patrols in the Akuapem South Municipality,” he said.
As part of efforts to improve the welfare of police personnel, plans are also underway to construct an ultramodern bungalow and washroom facilities for the municipal police command.
Representing the Aburihene, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, the Acting Chief of Awherease, Nana Opare Kwafo, praised Mohammed Raii for the donation and announced that the Aburi Traditional Council would honour him with a royal title for his contribution to security and community development.
He also donated a GH¢10,000 GOIL fuel voucher to support the operation of the new patrol vehicle.
Mohammed Raii, who was accompanied by Lebanon’s Chargé d’Affaires Ali Hamze and President of the African Paralympic Committee Samson Deen, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Ghana Police Service.
He said he was pleased to contribute to efforts aimed at improving security in Aburi, noting that he would also benefit from the enhanced patrols as a resident of the municipality.
“I am excited about today’s gesture and remain committed to supporting the Ghana Police Service,” he said.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem South, Paul Osae Offei, welcomed the donation and urged the police command to maintain the vehicle properly and use it effectively to protect lives and property.
The donation highlights the growing role of private individuals and organisations in supporting security agencies and strengthening policing in communities across Ghana.
