Election 2024: 7th March Free and Fair Elections March to be held on November 23

Thousands of Ghanaians are set to gather at Independence Square on November 23 for the 7th March Free and Fair Elections March, a symbolic event aimed at promoting peace and integrity in the upcoming December elections.

The march, organized by citizens committed to upholding democratic ideals, seeks to reinforce democratic values and ensure a stable and just society.

Over 10,000 participants will march seven times around the iconic Arc of Independence, symbolizing the biblical story of Jericho’s walls collapsing.

This gesture represents a call to dismantle barriers hindering peace and integrity within Ghana’s democracy.

The Ghana Supporters Union, a group dedicated to fostering peace, is rallying with messages of calm ahead of the elections.

Professor Ransford Gyampo, Chair of the peace initiative, emphasized the movement’s significance in bolstering Ghana’s democratic resilience.

“This movement is essential to remind us all that we are stakeholders in democracy, and to sustain it, we must safeguard peace and mutual respect.”

Nene Omanye Amoako Attah, the event’s convener, described the march as a proactive step towards securing peace.

The Ghana Supporters Union representative added, “We believe in the power of our voices and actions to promote peace. This election is not just about political choices; it’s about preserving our values and future.”
