Election 2024: Former Vice President of National House of Chiefs calls for forensic audit of voters register

Former National Vice President of House of Chiefs and the Paramount Chief of Abeadze Traditional Area, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a forensic audit of the voters register before the December 7 elections.

In an exclusive interview at his royal home, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, emphasised auditing the register is crucial for ensuring free and fair election in Ghana.

He also extended the call to the National Peace Council of Ghana to impress upon the Electoral Commission to heed the demands the National Democratic Congress and Civil Society Organizations who have been demanding same from the EC.

Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII further noted that the credibility of the EC is at stake should it continue to reject the forensic audit request, while urging fellow cheifs, stakeholders, and security agencies to join forces in advocating for the independent audit of the country’s electoral role to have a free, fair and violent free elections

He maintained that if the Electoral Commission allows for a forensic audit it will enhance public confidence in the electoral process.
