Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana (CARE GHANA) has called for inclusive participation in the 2024 Election Security Task Force to ensure fair and transparent elections.
In a press statement, CARE GHANA urged the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufu Dampare, to prioritize inclusivity and fairness in the task force.
“Inclusive participation in election security is crucial for fair and transparent elections in every thriving democracy,” said David Kumi Addo, Executive Director of CARE GHANA.
He emphasized that careful planning, regular training, open dialogue, and a commitment to securing elections can overcome challenges and create a more inclusive electoral security framework.
CARE GHANA noted that Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Political Parties play vital roles in promoting transparency and accountability.
“Their inclusion will bring independent scrutiny, grassroots insights, and diverse perspectives, enhancing oversight and public confidence,” Mr. Addo said.
He urged the task force to incorporate CSOs and Political Parties into decision-making processes to ensure inclusivity, responsiveness, and reflection of the people’s will.
As Ghana approaches another critical electoral cycle, CARE GHANA stressed the need for inclusivity and transparency to uphold democratic principles and ensure electoral integrity.
“Let us reaffirm our commitment to fair representation, transparency, and democratic ideals,” Mr. Addo concluded.
