The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority in Parliament has invited Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to participate in the debate on the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review of the 2024 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
The debate is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 10:00 am in the Parliamentary Chamber.
“We are extending this public invitation to the Vice President because of his role as Chairman of the Economic Management Team. We want him to account for his stewardship over the last seven and a half years,” said Ahmed Ibrahim, Deputy Minority Whip.
The Minority has lined up a team of experienced members to debate Vice President Bawumia, including George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Isaac Adongo, and Thomas Ampem Nyarko.
“We find it bewildering that Alhaji Bawumia still has the audacity to call for a debate on the economy, given the abysmal economic performance of his government,” Ahmed Ibrahim said.
He added, “If he is proud of his record, he should avail himself of this invitation, or he should forever keep his silence.”
The Minority is challenging Vice President Bawumia to defend his government’s economic record, citing high poverty rates, food insecurity, and unemployment.
