Embrace challenges and persevere – St Mary’s College of Health Sciences to freshers

The Director of St Mary’s College of Health Sciences, Mrs Kate Nana Yaa Agyare, has urged fresh students to embrace challenges and persevere, as they begin their nursing education.

In a speech during the college’s maiden matriculation ceremony, Mrs Agyare shared the institution’s journey to accreditation, which took ten years to achieve.

She encouraged the students to learn from the college’s experience, saying, “Just as gold passes through fire to become the most valuable commodity, so too will your struggles in this program shape you into skilled and compassionate nurses.”

The Director also reminded the students that their profession requires dedication, love, and compassion, and that they have the potential to make a positive impact on the world.

“Don’t see nursing as just a job, but as a partnership with God to care for His creation,” she said.

Mrs Agyare also expressed gratitude to the college’s partners, staff, and spiritual parents for their support, and encouraged the students to seek help when needed.

“You may be going through difficult times, but don’t give up on your studies. Remember that gold passes through fire, but its value is immeasurable,” she added.

The matriculation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the students, who are now poised to begin their journey in nursing education. With the college’s focus on producing skilled and compassionate nurses, the students are expected to make a positive impact in the healthcare sector.

In attendance were representatives from the University of Cape Coast, the National Medical and Dental Council, and other dignitaries.
