The founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in a dawn operation at his residence in Kumasi.
The operation was spearheaded by the Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) from the agency’s Headquarters in Accra, in collaboration with its Ashanti Regional Office.
According to eyewitness accounts, the arrest was conducted without resistance, with Mr. Akpaloo cooperating fully with the officers present.
He was reportedly transported to Accra shortly after for further questioning.
It is not immediately known what caused his arrest.
EOCO officials have yet to release an official statement outlining the specific charges or suspicions being investigated.
As of press time, the Liberal Party of Ghana had not issued an official statement.
