Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has unveiled his vision to strengthen Ghana’s sporting sector, tackling key challenges like poor funding, corruption, and inadequate infrastructure.
In an exclusive interview with Metro TV Sports, Kofi Adams emphasized his commitment to providing equal attention to all sports, beyond the nation’s football.
Kofi Adams told show host Michael Kofi Oduro that his administration will prioritize the development of all sports.
“Football is the passion of our people, but attention will be given to all sports, not just football,” he stated.
To achieve this goal, Kofi Adams has announced plans to increase funding for women’s football and lesser-known sports through an Olympic Cycle Funding system. This initiative will support underfunded sports, helping them compete fairly.
Furthermore, Kofi Adams has highlighted the importance of maintaining existing sports facilities, emphasizing the need for proper materials to ensure they remain in good condition for future generations.
Kofi Adam’s assumption of power comes at a critical juncture for Ghanaian sports. The sports sector has faced numerous challenges in recent years, including inadequate funding, corruption, and poor infrastructure.
