Ethical leaders show the way – Prof. Robert Hinson

The Pro Vice-Chancellor at the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, has highlighted the importance of ethical leadership in accelerating African, Ghanaian and Jospong Group growth.

Speaking at the 2025 Jospong Leadership Conference, Professor Hinson argued that ethical leadership goes beyond following the rules. In his opinion, ethical leadership encompasses a commitment to values, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose.

He argued further that ethical leaders inspire their teams, set ethical standards, and hold themselves accountable for ethical conduct.

Professor Hinson’s address at the Jospong Leadership Conference in 2025 focussed on ethical leadership and corporate responsibility. It emphasized the importance of fostering an ethical culture within organizations, which includes establishing a clear code of conduct and providing ongoing training for employees.

Key topics covered in the address included the significance of ethical decision-making frameworks that guide leaders in navigating dilemmas while considering the interests of various stakeholders, including customers, employees, and the community. The address highlighted the need for accountability and transparency in management practices, particularly during crises, to maintain trust and uphold ethical standards.

Additionally, it the address emphasized the role of corporate governance in ensuring ethical behavior, including the implementation of anti-corruption measures and compliance programs. The importance of community engagement and sustainable practices was also emphasized, as organizations were encouraged by Professor Hinson to contribute positively to their surroundings and prioritize social responsibility.

Professor Hinson advocated for continuous improvement in ethical practices, encouraging Jospong Group subsidiaries to align their purpose with ethical values and to actively engage with stakeholders to create a more responsible and sustainable business environment.
