Every qualified BECE candidate will be placed – GES assures

The Ghana Education Service says all qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates will be placed into senior high and technical schools for the 2026 academic year.

In a statement issued on 14th May, the GES said preparations had been completed to admit fresh students across the country from 18th September 2026.

The service dismissed reports suggesting that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement, describing the claims as speculative and inaccurate.

GES said every effort had been made to ensure that all qualified candidates gained access to secondary education.

It also assured parents and stakeholders that there was enough infrastructure and facilities to accommodate students expected to be admitted this year.

The statement added that ongoing efforts to phase out the double track system would not affect access to senior high school education.

According to the GES, the move is instead expected to improve teaching and learning while maintaining full access for students nationwide.

The service reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children and called on stakeholders to support the process.
