Ex-Black Queens Striker, Gifty Ayew Secures FIFA Youth Coaching Certificate

Former Epiphany Warriors and Black Queens forward, Gifty Ayew Asare has been awarded the FIFA Youth Coaching Certificate after completing the coaching course.

The former Epiphany Warriors forward who has now taken up an administrative position in her former club received her certificate after she completed a 5-day residential course organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in collaboration with FIFA at the GFA Technical Centre of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.

Gifty Asare, the former Black Queens forward who is being revered so much in the women’s game earned the name ‘Ayew’ when similarities were drawn between her style of play and the style of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele during her playing days.

Serving currently as the deputy assistant coach for Ghana Women’s Division One League side FC Epiphany Warriors, she holds a License D coaching certificate from the Ghana Football Association.

She was part of twenty-five youth coaches who were selected from across the regions, Premier League, Division One League as well as the Women’s Premier League clubs.

Gifty enjoyed an illustrious playing career featuring for top clubs in Ghana and also the USA, having featured for top clubs including Samaria Ladies FC, Blessed Ladies FC, Lady Mavericks (USA), Dayton Dutch Lions, and most recently Epiphany Warriors FC in Ghana.

Having gained so much experience under her belt during her playing career the former forward had to make a hard decision by diverting her attention towards coaching after her career was blighted by minor injuries which curtailed her development.

Gifty has been a beneficiary of Epiphany Warriors Football Club’s ‘Beyond Goal Project’ – a project being undertaken by the club to help girls/women who do not enjoy a successful football career take up academic or vocational courses during their playing days to help have numerous opportunities in the event their football careers do not go as expected.

Hence the club has taken the mandate to fully sponsor the coaching courses of the forward under the Beyond Goal Project, as she aims to enrich her managerial CV in other to venture into full-time coaching in the near future.
