Ex-Black Stars player, Charles Taylor alleges GFA abandoned him in US

Former Black Stars midfielder Charles Taylor has alleged that he was left stranded in the United States after the Ghana Football Association failed to fulfil promises made to him during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Taylor said GFA President, Kurt Okraku invited him to the tournament and assured him that, as one of Ghana’s football legends, he would be well taken care of throughout his stay.

However, the former midfielder claimed the association failed to provide his return ticket, leaving him without the means to travel home and with no financial support.

He further alleged that he had to depend on the generosity of strangers to secure a ticket to watch Ghana’s World Cup match against England after the assistance he had been promised did not materialise.

According to Taylor, his efforts to seek help were unsuccessful, as both GFA President Kurt Okraku and Sports Minister Kofi Adams allegedly failed to answer his calls.

The Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry have not publicly responded to the allegations.
