A 32-year-old man has been arrested for posing as a police officer during Shatta Wale’s birthday celebration, ShattaFest, held at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The suspect, identified as Akoto Nelson, allegedly impersonated a deceased Assistant Superintendent of Police and wore the officer’s uniform to the event, according to police sources.
Investigations revealed that Nelson is not a member of the police service but works as a security guard and messenger at a private company.
Police later searched his residence and found a toy P99 pistol, a pepper spray canister, two ZTE mini handsets, a pepper spray pouch, a ZTE charger, a Xinfa cutter knife, and several complimentary cards.
Nelson is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
