Family demands justice over killing of Aflao MoMo vendor

The family and friends of Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor who was killed during an armed robbery attack in Aflao, are demanding justice and greater transparency in the handling of the case.

Mr Ahordo was reportedly shot and stabbed to death near the Diamond Cement Factory in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region on 24th April 2025.

Relatives say they are deeply disappointed by what they describe as a lack of progress in investigations, despite the arrest of several suspects shortly after the incident.

According to the family, about ten suspects, including an alleged ringleader identified as Taidu Ali, were arrested with support from community members and handed over to the police. They claim the suspects were kept in custody for several days before being released without any clear explanation.

The family says the development has left them traumatised and questioning the commitment of law enforcement authorities to securing justice for their relative.

Speaking on behalf of the family, spokesperson Edem Viglo Mensah described the handling of the case as frustrating and unfair. He also raised concerns about alleged negligence and possible corruption surrounding the investigations.

The family and some residents are now calling for the immediate re arrest of all suspects and a renewed investigation into the killing.

They are also appealing to the Inspector General of Police to personally intervene and ensure that justice is served.
