Father arrested for dragging son behind quad bike at North Legon

A 60-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly tying his 16-year-old son to a quad bike and dragging him along a road at North Legon in Accra, police have said.

The Accra Regional Police Command said the incident happened on 3rd May after the teenager went out to play football with friends.

Police said the suspect, identified as Eric Mante, confronted the boy before allegedly tying him to the quad bike and speeding off.

Investigators say the teenager fell onto the tarred road near Adonai Church and was dragged for some distance, suffering multiple injuries.

Residents who heard the boy screaming rushed to the scene and stopped the suspect from continuing, according to police.

The victim was later taken to Legon Hospital for treatment, while the suspect was arrested.

Police said the suspect admitted to the act during investigations and claimed he acted out of anger over the boy’s behaviour.

He has since been charged and put before court.

The Accra Regional Police Command condemned violence against children and urged parents and guardians to use lawful and non violent ways of disciplining children.
