FDA launches Digital Food Safety platform for Dome Market

The Food and Drugs Authority has launched a digital coordination platform at Dome Market to improve food safety through closer collaboration with market leaders and local authorities.

The new Dome Market Food Safety Digital Coordination WhatsApp Platform is expected to strengthen communication between the FDA, market queens, commodity leaders and environmental health officers to improve food safety standards and ensure quicker responses to public health concerns.

The initiative forms part of a broader partnership between the FDA, market queens, commodity leaders and the Environmental Health Units of the Municipal Assembly to enhance food safety surveillance in the market.

According to the FDA, the platform will enable the real time reporting of food safety concerns, improve coordination among stakeholders and allow the direct sharing of regulatory information with market leaders.

The authority said equipping market leaders with the knowledge and tools to promote food safety and promptly report concerns would help protect consumers and strengthen public health.

The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with stakeholders to ensure that Ghanaians have access to safe and wholesome food through stronger partnerships and effective regulatory engagement.
