The National Coordinator of the Feed Ghana Programme, Bright Kwadzo Demordzi, says the programme will soon recruit all agricultural graduates since 2014 and collaborate with research institutions to improve farming and boost food production.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Bottomline programme with host Kwasi Afriyie, Mr. Demordzi revealed that all agricultural graduates who completed their studies since 2014 but remain unemployed will soon be recruited under the Feed Ghana initiative.
These graduates, he said, will be deployed to support Agricultural Extension Officers and gain practical field experience while offering much-needed technical support to farmers.
“We are making sure that extension services are efficient and accessible. The new recruits will learn on the job and complement the efforts of our existing officers. This is not just about creating jobs for the youth but strengthening our food systems,” he explained.
Mr. Demordzi further said the Programme Secretariat’s plans to collaborate with research institutions across the country to help improve farming practices and increase crop yields.
“We believe that evidence-based agriculture is key. Tapping into the knowledge and innovation from our research bodies will help make Ghana’s farming sector more resilient and productive,” he said.
The ‘Feed Ghana Programme’ is the flagship initiative of the broader Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA). Aimed at modernizing agriculture, the FGP seeks to create jobs, reduce food inflation, and foster agro-industrial development.
