Fire guts house at Kwashieman Been To, one injured

A domestic fire outbreak at Kwashieman Been To in Accra has left one bedroom completely destroyed and a 53-year-old man injured.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred on February 14, 2026, at about 3:27 pm.

In a statement issued by the Service, the fire crew “responded promptly, arriving at the scene at 1535hrs, and brought the fire under control at 1547hrs,” before it was finally extinguished at 4:45 pm.

The blaze affected a domestic property, leading to “one bedroom and its contents being completely destroyed, while another bedroom and the hall were partially affected.

An “unspecified amount of money was also partially burnt,” the statement added.

However, firefighters were able to save part of the building, as “three adjoining rooms were successfully salvaged.”

The GNFS also confirmed that the cause of the fire is yet to be established and is “currently under investigation”

One person, identified as 53-year-old Pastor Matthew, sustained injuries in the incident.

The statement noted that he “was attended to and sent to Ablekuma North Polyclinic for treatment.”

Authorities have urged residents to observe basic fire safety measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
