A potential fuel disaster was averted on Sunday when a petrol tanker carrying 27,000 litres of fuel crashed and began leaking at Mamfe-Amamprobi in the Eastern Region.
The Akropong Municipal Fire Station responded swiftly, dispatching a seven-member crew to the scene.
Through rapid intervention, the team managed to contain the hazard using cooling techniques and continuous monitoring, preventing a possible explosion or fire.
The fuel was safely transferred to another tanker, and the damaged vehicle was removed from the scene without incident. Eastern Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Timothy Osafo-Affum, was present to supervise and support the operation.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are currently underway.
