President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, has called for strict fiscal discipline to revive Ghana’s economy.
Speaking at the National Economic Dialogue 2025, he emphasized the need to curb wasteful spending and ensure that public funds deliver tangible benefits to Ghanaians.
“Fiscal responsibility must become the bedrock of our national development strategy, and every cedi spent must deliver tangible value to the Ghanaian people,” he stated.
He proposed value-for-money audits for high-value government projects to enhance transparency and accountability.
President John Dramani Mahama also attributed Ghana’s current economic crisis to years of fiscal mismanagement and reckless spending by previous administrations.
He cited unprecedented debt levels, soaring inflation, and a decline in investor confidence as outcomes of poor leadership.
“Our nation’s financial struggles have not arisen overnight; they have resulted from several years of fiscal mismanagement, irresponsible borrowing, and reckless spending,” he said.
