Fmr CEO Of Cylinder Manufacturing Company Locks Horns With President, Napo & Asante Bediatuo Over Unfair Treatment

After tendering in her resignation, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company, Frances Essiam has registered her displeasure with the treatment meted out to her by President Akufo-Addo and a host of other senior officials in government.

According to Mad. Frances Essiam, she resigned based on principle since she has every right to do so in a democratic state.

“I am resigning on the point of principle. I have resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company. I thank President Akufo- Addo for appointing me. I believe in Ghana we should be bold to resign and move away, it’s our democratic right,” she added.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Peace FM on Friday, February 24th, 2023, the former CEO further revealed snippets of circumstances leading to her unceremonious resignation.

Among a number of factors, she accused Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh of thwarting efforts being made to make Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company successful.

She narrated that ” with all our hard work and efforts at the company, there are some who don’t want us to be successful . . . so I’ve decided to resign. I’m a woman of substance, a woman of peace and highly knowledgeable . . . I have resigned so Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Minister for Energy and Manhyia South MP can now have his way; he can do whatever he wants with Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company; he can grind and chew it . . . I have not heard from the President but I am resigning in principle . . . he (Mathew Opoku Prempeh) should bring it on, I am ready for him,” she said.

Madam Essiam, although failed to reveal specific details that necessitated her resignation, she however indicated that she will be addressing the press in the coming days on what the Energy Minister and the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo have done to necessitate her unceremonious resignation.
