Journalist Paul Adom-Otchere says the New Patriotic Party’s chances in the 2028 general election depend on unity rather than the popularity of its presidential candidate.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, the host of Good Evening Ghana said a united front is more important than who emerges as the flagbearer.
“NPP can win the 2028 general election on the account of a strongly united party. It does not matter the quality of the candidate. The ability to unite the party is key to winning in 2028.” Adom-Otchere told Moro Awudu on GMG show
Adom-Otchere explained that while a governing party can rely on its performance to secure victory, opposition parties need internal harmony to compete effectively.
“Unity is more important than who wins the primaries,” he added.
He advised leading contenders, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong, to prioritize reconciliation after the primaries. “Bring the members together,” he urged.
Background
His comments follow a recent Global Info Analytics poll by Musa Dankwa, which placed Vice President Dr Bawumia in the lead with 52 percent support. Kennedy Agyapong followed with 17 percent, while other candidates scored less than five percent. The poll also showed 10.7 percent of respondents were undecided and 9 percent did not disclose their preference.
