The Federation of Muslim Women Association in Ghana, Northern Region [FOMWAG], has donated six 3-in-1 Focus Ceiling Fans to the Tamale Central Prison Mosque to improve ventilation and comfort for inmates during prayers.
Authorities of FOMWAG have observed the devastating effects of the lack of proper ventilation during prayers and have taken swift intervention aimed at donating fans to the mosque.
The donation was presented by a 3-member delegation led by the Association’s President, Hajia Azara Issaka.
Benedict Sanziri, Acting 21/C, received the items on behalf of the Northern Regional Commander of Prisons and expressed gratitude to FOMWAG for the kind gesture shown the inmates.
He also noted that the donation aligns perfectly with the welfare pillar of the Ghana Prisons Service’s Think Prison 360 Reset Agenda.
“The welfare of inmates is a shared responsibility, and this support will go a long way to make worship more conducive for our Muslim inmates,” he said.
Mr Sanziri assured the FOMWAG authorities that the fans would be installed immediately for their intended use at the mosque. He also called on the public, corporate bodies and philanthropists to emulate FOMWAG’s example in supporting the prison in diverse ways.
Speaking on behalf of FOMWAG, Hajia Azara Issaka, said the association was moved to support the mosque after learning of the need. She added that service to humanity especially to the vulnerable, is central to the association’s work.
The six Focus Ceiling Fans are expected to benefit hundreds of inmates who use the Tamale Central Prison Mosque daily.
