Multiple award-winning Gospel singer and songwriter, Sonnie Badu, has weighed in on the recent defeat of the Black Stars to Angola in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier..
Sonnie Badu in a post on social media suggested that the violent reactions of some football fans to their team’s loss can be attributed to the financial losses incurred from betting.
“When you see a man weeping after a lost match, it’s because he knows the true cost,” he wrote.
Sonnie Badu, who claimed to have stopped being emotionally invested in football due to its association with betting, cautioned players to remember that “lives are at stake” and urged them to “come back stronger.”
He also apologized to the people of Kumasi for the Black Stars’ loss, which saw a record broken, and encouraged continued support for the team, saying “they will do better.”
