The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited process to replace passports lost or damaged during this week’s floods, with affected people urged to register by 17th July.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry expressed sympathy to families affected by the floods, which have claimed lives and destroyed property in several parts of Ghana.
It said many people had either lost their passports or had them damaged during the flooding and had therefore introduced a fast tracked replacement exercise to ease the burden on victims.
People affected by the floods are being asked to contact the ministry on 055 936 8563 between 3rd July and 17th July. They will be required to provide their name, date of birth and gender as they appear on their passport, along with a contact telephone number.
The ministry said it aims to replace all eligible lost and damaged passports within one week.
It also reaffirmed its support for those affected by the disaster and said it remained committed to supporting the government’s recovery efforts.
The announcement comes as authorities continue to assess the impact of the floods, which have caused widespread destruction in several communities.
