Ghana’s sprint team has made a powerful statement at the start of the 2026 indoor season, with four athletes securing qualification for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, scheduled for March 20–22 in Toruń, Poland.
The global event will be held at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena, where the world’s fastest indoor athletes will compete for medals.
Ghana’s qualification success has come in the highly competitive men’s 60 meters, highlighting the country’s growing depth in short sprint events.
Leading the charge is Saminu Abdul-Rasheed, who clocked a blistering 6.54 seconds at the Jarvis Scott Invitational in Lubbock, Texas. The time not only marked a personal best but was also the world-leading mark at the time. His performance was well below the qualification standard of 6.59 seconds.
Joining him is Barnabas Kobby Asante Aggerh, who posted an impressive 6.57 seconds to secure his place in Poland.
