The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four men believed to be part of a robbery gang that has been terrorising residents around Kunsu and nearby communities.
The suspects, Yahyah Seidu, also known as Diamond, 24, Atta Esrael, known as Stone, 32, Victor Gyan, called City Boy, 26, and Stanley Wiafe Akenten, known as Figo, 30, are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Addressing the media at a press conference in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur, said the arrests followed investigations into an armed robbery attack at a mining site.
According to him, the suspects, together with two other accomplices who are currently on the run, attacked a miner, Kingsley Asare, at the site on December 7, 2025.
The gang robbed the victims of gold valued at hundreds of cedis, cash and mobile phones.
DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur disclosed that police retrieved two pump action guns, 22 BB cartridges, five mobile phones including the complainant’s phone, and cash amounting to 5,400 cedis during the operation.
He said the suspects were interrogated after their arrest and admitted their involvement in the robbery. Police, he added, are preparing to process them to face the full rigours of the law.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring their safety and security.
He also appealed to the public to volunteer information to the police to help track down the remaining suspects and curb criminal activities in the region.
