Free SHS is here to stay; no reversal is possible – Mahama silences critics

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former president John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his support for the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and pledged improvements should he be re-elected on December 7.

Mr. Mahama emphasized the policy’s function in guaranteeing every citizen equitable access to education.

Speaking on Sunday, July 7, 2024, in Accra to journalists , he stated, “The Free SHS policy is here to stay, and I am committed to improving it.”

He refuted claims that he was against the policy, making it clear that he was in favor of it and that his goal was to solve its existing problems.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused Mr Mahama and the NDC of opposing the policy alleging that they will cancel it if Mr Mahama is reelected President.
