The Government has announced a two-day national cleaning exercise on Friday, 10th July 2026, and Saturday, 11th July 2026, for regions impacted by recent flooding.
This initiative, themed “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the floods,” requires government appointees, including Ministers and local officials, to actively lead cleanup efforts in their communities.
The schedule for the exercise is as follows:
Friday, 10th July 2026: Personnel from security agencies, local assemblies, and waste management companies will begin cleaning activities.
Saturday, 11th July 2026: The general public will join these efforts to expand the scope of the cleanup.
The primary focus is to desilt drains, clear debris from public areas, and remove waste to prevent future flooding.
To support this, local assemblies are required to coordinate with waste management companies to provide necessary equipment and ensure all gathered refuse is evacuated immediately.
