From by-day mason to Light-heavyweight Boxer — the story of Freezy MacBones

Light-heavyweight boxer, Seth Gyimah also known as ‘Freezy Macbones’ within the boxing world has shared some of the difficulties he had to pull through to get to where he is now.

Macbones squared off veteran UK boxer Darly Sharp on his Queensberry debut last Saturday. He secured a four-round decision win at the Copper Box Arena in London.

The UK-based boxer has experienced his share of life’s difficulties, he faced all odds to achieve his professional boxing dream.

Speaking to Gideon Okyere Anim “Gatusso ” on Original 91.9FM’s Super Sports Show on Tuesday, April 18, 2023,  Freezy touched on his struggles before he left Ghana to seek greener pastures in England.

“I use to be a by-day mason at Kumasi- Breman before I got the opportunity to go to the UK ”

“I had nothing and I was a nobody”

” I hustled daily to make ends meet”

He further stated that things weren’t rosy when he got to the UK either.

“I remember when I came to the UK, I was all alone and couldn’t speak good English”.

“I had nowhere to lay my head, neither did I have a place to call home “.

Freezy left Ghana for the UK in 2012 and started training as a boxer later in 2017.

He joined the sport later than most of his compatriots with just 18 amateur fights with the Darryl bout being his second since he turned pro.
