Ebenezer Smith, a Ghanaian who claims to be a culinary expert, has rendered an apology to the nation for falsely claiming to have set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
At a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday, Chef Smith showcased a certificate which he claimed was from GWR, but verification by the authority revealed that the certificate was not authentic.
Despite the public backlash after the fake announcement, Smith remained tight-lipped on the incident.
However, in a video shared on social media on Saturday, July 6, Chef Smith expressed remorse for his actions, saying “I’m so sorry, I don’t deserve to… I’m sorry and I beg the whole nation.
According to him, the world’s authority in record keeping did not approve his request to embark on the longest cooking marathon by an individual to start with.
Chef Smith’s apology comes after he was exposed for his false claim, which has landed him in trouble.
The Ghanaian chef has been trending on social media following his press conference, with many expressing disappointment and disbelief at his actions.
