Fuel prices up again; a litre now GH¢16

Fuel prices have shot up to almost GH¢16 per litre at some filling stations in Ghana.

This is a sharp rise from the GH¢11.06 per litre for petrol and GH¢13.95 per litre for diesel, the products were being sold earlier in the month.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) with the highest-priced fuel on the downstream petroleum market have issued new prices effective 6pm on Sunday, and will last until the end of the month before a new review will be implemented on November 1, 2022.

Per notices, OMCs with the highest-priced fuel have increased the price of a litre of petrol from GH₵11.10 to GH₵13.10.

In the same vein, the OMCs with the highest-priced fuel have also increased the price of litre of diesel from GH₵13.99 to GH₵15.99.

The rampant increase in the price of fuel in the country, which started off in January at about GHS6.5 per litre has been attributed mainly to the rise in the cost of the commodity on the world market and the constant depreciation of the cedi.
