Fulani herdsmen appeal for security amid rising attacks in Kwahu Afram Plains

The Fulani community in the Kwahu Afram Plains area has appealed to security agencies to intervene and ensure their safety amid a surge in deadly attacks on their members.

According to Chief Iddrisa Sambo Jalo, Chief of Fulani herdsmen in Kwahu Afram Plains, 50 Fulani herdsmen have been killed, including three who were beheaded, between January 2023 and May 2024.

Several properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis have also been stolen.

Chief Jalo expressed concern that the government’s efforts to address the attacks have been minimal, and tensions are rising, posing a dire threat to security.

The latest incident occurred at Maame Krobo, where two herdsmen were beheaded by unknown assailants.

The bodies have been deposited at the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital morgue pending an autopsy report.

Dr. Isaac Boateng, Acting Medical Superintendent of the hospital, confirmed that the heads of the two victims were not found.
