Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has launched the 2025 Safety and Environment Week celebrations at Kotoka International Airport under the theme “Optimizing Safety and Environment in a 24-Hour Economy.”
In her address, the Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, emphasized GACL’s commitment to deepening partnerships across the aviation industry to advance safety, environmental sustainability, and operational excellence. She noted that the celebration aligns with GACL’s broader agenda of promoting Total Safety Management and enhancing environmental stewardship across all airports in the country.
Mrs. Opare emphasized GACL’s commitment to strong Safety and Environmental Management Systems and encouraged staff to fully participate in activities such as FOD Walks, Workshops, and Safety Site Visits.
The highlight of the programme was the signing of the Aviation Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) pledge. The pledge outlines GACL’s commitment in key thematic areas namely: protecting the environment, empowering people and communities, upholding integrity and accountability, driving innovation and sustainable growth, ensuring health, safety and resilience and advancing green sustainable financing.
The event also witnessed the presentation of awards to deserving departments and organisations for their outstanding commitment to safety excellence and environmental sustainability.
The launch brought together officials from Customs, ground handling companies, and a cross-section of stakeholders.
