Galamsey Economy: Why is Tiger Eye airing a 2018 documentary now? – Kabiru Mahama

The Technical Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama has questioned the timing of the latest investigative piece by ace undercover reporter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Dr. Kabiru Mahama said the Tiger Eye Private Investigations owe Ghanaians an explanation as to why it took them four years to release the documentary.

Galamsey Economy exposes the handlers who cut deals at the expense of the state. The documentary shames persons making Ghana unattractive for investment, their modus operandi, and where they operate.

Originally filmed in 2018, the damning documentary premiered at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Prior to its airing, President Nana Akufo-Addo terminated the appointment of the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen who was allegedly captured asking an investor to pay a $200,000 appearance fee to enable a meeting between him and the Vice President..

Commenting on the documentary on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama could not fathom the delay in releasing the documentary, especially when it allegedly implicated one of the nation’s top financial managers.

He argued that “If Adu Boahen was that bad, corrupt why would you allow him [to stay for] two years? (sic) Why would you give him the opportunity for the President to appoint him again? Now, he’s been promoted to the Minister of State.”

“If was he plugging this nation into chaos he was enriching this country using the office why would you allow such a person four years – a grace period of four years? To probably, enrich himself the more I think that question opt to be answered,” he said on Good Morning Ghana Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Dr. Kabiru Mahama asserted Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team did the country a disservice.

The Technical Advisor to the Vice President brushed off some explanations in the media claiming portions of the film were stolen reason for the undue delay.

If it was the case, Dr. Kabiru Mahama said, they could have premiered the remaining visuals to tell the narration that seeks.

Alternatively, Tiger Eye PI should have engaged the presidency to stop the promotion of Mr. Adu Boahen from Deputy Finance Minister to the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.
