Galamsey menace: I’m not an idiot to be neutral – Franklin Cudjoe pours out frustration over gov’t insensitivity

Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has declared his utter disgust and rejection of the government’s handling of critical issues affecting Ghana.

This comes on the heels of the Organized Labour’s decision to call off the strike action against the government’s unimpressive fight against illegal mining, also known as galamsey.

Franklin Cudjoe in a Facebook lamented that some individuals shouting in support of mass actions against flagrant abuse of rights, economy, and society have their own agendas, citing the leadership of organized labour’s decision to be “enchanted by the do-little games and tricks of the government”

He expressed frustration over the government’s broken promises, including meddling in citizens’ finances, going back on their word not to approach the IMF, increasing taxes, and reckless borrowing, which has led to Ghana’s ostracization from international markets.

“The Ghanaian currency, the cedi, would be protected by wonderful economic fundamentals, and yet the cedi is slavishly shackled and hiding from the dollar with four times the protective clothing it used to fight off the dollar scare in 2016,” he noted.

He also condemned the government’s alleged role in election gerrymandering, which led to the disenfranchisement of citizens in the 2020 elections.

“For all the above, you would be wasting your time asking me to be neutral. I am not an idiot,” Cudjoe declared, making it clear that he will not stand idly by in the face of such injustices.

“I hereby declare a strike to strike out everyone who contributed to the carnage,” Franklin Cudjoe proclaimed.
