GCB Bank Ltd has debunked reports suggesting that it has sold its training school at Nungua for demolition and hotel development.
The state-owned financial institution described the claims as “false” and misleading.
In a statement issued via its social media handles on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the bank urged the public to disregard the circulating information and rely solely on its official communication channels.
“Claims circulating that GCB Bank Ltd has sold its training school in Nungua for demolition and hotel development are FALSE,” the statement said.
The bank further appealed to its customers, staff and stakeholders to remain calm and vigilant against misinformation.
“We urge our cherished customers, staff, and stakeholders to disregard this misinformation and rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates,” GCB added.
To ensure access to credible information, the bank encouraged the public to verify any concerns through its official contact platforms.
“For verified information, contact us on: 0302 634 922 | 0800 422 422… Stay informed. Stay assured,” the statement noted.
The misinformation is reported to have been circulated by some members of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), raising concerns about the politicisation of unverified claims.
The bank assured stakeholders that any major decisions concerning its assets and operations would be officially communicated through recognised channels.
