GES opens 2026 teacher re-posting window, sets August 31 deadline

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the commencement of the 2026 inter-regional and inter/intra-district re-posting exercise for its staff across the country.

In a circular dated June 3, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the Service outlined timelines and procedures for teachers and other staff seeking transfers ahead of the next academic year.

According to the directive signed by the Director of Human Resource Management Division, Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah, the issuance of assurances to eligible applicants began on Wednesday, June 3, and will end on June 17, 2026.

“Management brings to the attention of all Regional/Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors, the commencement of this year’s Inter-Regional and Inter/Intra District re-posting,” the circular stated.

The GES indicated that the process for staff seeking assurances remains unchanged and urged applicants to comply with the established procedures and documentation requirements.

Under the schedule released by the Service, regional offices are expected to process inter-regional re-posting applications from June 17 to June 30, while the overall deadline for processing both inter-regional and inter/intra-district re-postings is August 31, 2026.

The Service further noted that approved transfers will take effect at the beginning of the next academic year in September 2026.

To facilitate timely processing, GES directed regional offices to submit processed inter-regional applications to the headquarters immediately upon receipt.

“Management would appreciate if processed Inter-regional documents are submitted to the headquarters as and when they are received at the regions in order to expedite the processing of applications,” the statement said.

Regional Directors have also been instructed to compile and forward the names of all staff granted assurances in their respective regions to the Human Resource Management Division Secretariat at the GES headquarters in Accra.

The Service stressed that no staff member should leave their current station without formal approval from the Director-General.

“Please note that a staff seeking re-posting, can only be released after the Director-General has approved and issued out a re-posting letter to the applicant,” the circular emphasised.
