The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 school year, with all second cycle institutions set to commence on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

In a statement signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director for the Schools and Instruction Division, the GES noted that the current first-year students in Transitional Calendar schools will end their 2023/2024 academic year on Monday, October 28, 2024, and proceed to Form Two.

Incoming first-year students for Single Track and Transitional Schools, as well as continuing students in Single Track Schools, will also begin the new academic year on October 30, 2024.

This reopening date aims to ensure that the school calendar reverts to a September start in the coming years and students will be able to write their 2024/2025 WASSCE in May/June 2025.”

The GES has directed Regional Directors to communicate the new calendar to all Heads of Second Cycle Institutions to ensure full implementation.
